Accents for Actors
Accents can either create uncertainty for performers or ground them more deeply in the story.
I work across a range of Irish, British, and American dialects, supporting actors in building accents that are consistent, responsive, and performance-ready.
In sessions, I guide the technical and structural side of the work so performers can focus fully on character, text, and performance. Each session is fully individualised, shaped around the actor’s learning style, role, and the specific demands of the project.
Each session includes:
Clear, detailed breakdowns of each accent
Individualised feedback
Practical exercises to integrate the work
Resources that can be returned to throughout the process and continued with independently
Whether expanding an accent repertoire, preparing for a last-minute audition, or seeking to feel secure enough in an accent to fully commit to performance, I support actors in building both technical accuracy and expressive freedom.
As an Irish accent coach, I also have a particular focus on the nuances and regional variation across Ireland. This includes supporting non-Irish actors in developing authentic Irish accents, as well as working with Irish performers to refine features of speech that may carry through from their native accent when working in other dialects or audition contexts.
